Karen has been part of the BestLife Board since 2014 and has a keen interest in strategy and governance. As well as her BestLife role, she has held leadership and Board roles on a volunteer basis with organisations in the education and sport and recreation sectors across many years.
Karen was drawn to work with BestLife as it provided a unique opportunity for children and young people to develop friendships and enjoy age appropriate social activities regardless of abilities. The BestLife vision for young people to enjoy rich and fulfilled adult lives, independent of their family resonates strongly due her own family experience.
In her professional capacity, Karen holds tertiary qualifications in human resources and has worked in leadership roles in the not-for-profit and government sectors for over 20 years, including disability services. She currently holds an Executive role with responsibility for human resources, communication and marketing for a large not for profit organisation providing alcohol and drug rehabilitation and mental health services.
